ColdKit and the Environment

ColdKit is part of Purever Group, a group which has been a pioneer in investment for the development of policies and processes for the compliance with the Kyoto protocol. This translates into specific directives and qualifications of personnel in environmental issues for the adequate handling of waste in our factories, as well as investment in non-contaminating productions processes.

With regards to energy, we have re-designed our workplaces to make them more energetically efficient; we are concerned about the transportation of our products and raw materials, which is why we optimize both loads and routes to minimize CO2 emissions.

Purever Group contributes towards sustainable development and recognizes that this generates the confidence of clients, markets and society in general. This is why Purever Group continually seeks to improve its processes, and seeks ways to make economic development and protection of the environment compatible, and invest in eco-efficiency as a means of getting ahead in a globalised and competitive market.

ColdKit´s Environmental Policies

One of the key objectives of the EU is decoupling environmental degradation from economic growth and doing more with less. Purever Group is deeply committed with this objective and integrates environmental sustainability with its growth by using four short -but deep- maxims inspired by the EU fact sheets:

  • Do more with less
  • Better -low energy consumption- products
  • Responsible and empowered employees
  • Leaner production

Therefore, there is a special focus on improving the environmental performance of products, not only throughout their life cycle by optimizing its consumption and introducing new energy saving innovations, but also reducing to the optimum the energy and resources needed for their production.

For example, by using thermo-efficient panels which reduces the need of heating or cooling to the strictly necessary or using translucent roof panels for additional light saving, or using compact fluorescent light bulbs which are more efficient than the traditional filament light bulbs.

Purever Group is committed to reduce its carbon footprint and consequently has started to take the steps involved in putting Life Cycle Thinking into practice. These steps include:

  • Conducting a screening of the company´s product portfolio to identify goods contributing most to environmental burdens.
  • Identifying which life cycle stages contribute most to the overall environmental impact of a particular products.
  • Identifying options for improvement, as well as possible “win-win” situations where reducing the environmental impact of products can come with cost saving opportunities.
